Well, you can blame Jim48 for my being here, too!!! I guess this is the place to go when SDC boggs down at midnight! Andy Capp, haven't seen him in years, used to be my favorite cartoon in the Sunday paper.

Hi StarRider, welcome to LTL and great to see you here. Glad to have you on board! StarRider1701 wrote: ... Andy Capp, haven't seen him in years, used to be my favorite cartoon in the Sunday paper. Me too. He used to be in the Daily Mirror every day in the UK. (Maybe he still is, not sure. Possibly not though as wouldn't be exactly "politically correct" in 2010. )

Nonsense. The man’s an icon - an ascended master beyond the pale of the ‘politically correct’. Just a few gems: Page 23:
“The path to enlightenment begins with a beer, a remote, and a sofa. . .”
Page 71:
“What profit a man who, finding heaven discovers the tap at the bar has been drained?”
Page 107:
“Give a man a brew, and his thirst be quenched for the moment; But teach that man the
fine art of distilling spirits and happiness shall be with him all the days of his life”.
Page 183:
“Tis true, a wife of agile mind and handsome features be of merit, But the woman of still
tongue who can have dinner on the table by 5 surely a gift from heaven”.Joe (Bigsky770)

StarRider 1701, the Star Trek fan and SDC rabble rouser. Welcome!!! StarRider also heads up one of Operation Area 51 Freedom's elite commando units, the one in charge of securing the beer. Speaking of beer, Andy Capp? Haven't seen him in ages. He used to be in the papers here when I was a kid.

I think I might have some fun here... NCC1701, designation of the USS Enterprise - Star Trek? Surely you knew that and just had a major brain fart??? I'm a big Science Fiction fan as well as a Star Trek fan (please don't call me a Trekkie, hate that term, not too fond of Trekker either) in all its incarnations. I think I might have some fun here, although I didn't see a Science Fiction topic on your boards...

I remember Mr Capp, he was a source of much puzzlement to me when I was little fella. I especially liked the games he and the Vicar indulged in. "I was thinking very hard about your words, Vicar, and I had a question" says Andy. "Really Andy? *Vicar looks amazed but skeptical* What question was that?" "If I Sow Beer, and Littl' Darlin's, will I REAP beer and Littl' Darlin's?". Gidday mate!, check out the threads and dive in !.
