Latest update from the BBC: They tried to do the test launch today but failed: ... When Sunday's countdown reached zero, a puff of smoke was seen from the rocket but nothing happened. A subsequent inspection found a valve controlling the flow of very cold, liquid oxygen to the motor had frozen up. N...

Could it mean the volcano was discovered by a Chinese, shit (!) smoking hippie? Seems these tulip-munchers have quite a bit of spare time on their hands, to make observations like that. :woezb4: ... But if Yellowstone goes off, we ain't gunna be bored, right? ... Absolutely. We won't have time to b...

Yikes! Sorry I'm a little late with this, but I just heard about it for the first time when a thread was started over at Space.com here. (I gave a link because my friends SpaceKiwi and Star Sirius made some posts, so we have reports now from three Kiwis - both them over there and Apteryx here.) Stay...

There must be more than 1.5 billion Muslims out there. You won't see any aggressive behaviour from 99% of them. The aggressive behaviour of the rest is bad news and bad news is the only news we see ... I agree - in fact it's a similar point to what I've made before in other threads and was about to...

Sorry to hear that Apteryx. ... Might have to go on the dole if only to get money for my rent. Bad joss, I never had to do that before. Still having paid taxes all these years, that is the social contract ... Absolutely. As Joe said ... ... *If* it should come down to it, and you have to go on the d...

... I am not fond of Geert Wilders, in fact I am ashamed of him being Dutch and having such a large Dutch electorate. But this is madness. Another idiot proving Wilders' point that Islam is an aggressive, violent and intolerant ideology ... Yes and the problem is, this type of thing will probably o...

Even though they turned out to be innocent, and wrongful arrest etc aside, I'm wondering why the plane they were on was allowed to fly all the way to Amsterdam in the first place, if at that time they were suspected terrorists. Ok I know they were re-routed from their original flight (an internal fl...

Here are some photos of the Submarine races off the coast of Italy, held in June, 2010. Switzerland was in the lead until they missed the third pylon and had to go round again. Austria and Romania were in a tight battle for second, but the surprise was Czech Republic which came from behind to win in...

Just an update. It seems the two lads were robbing people at a corner and have been doing this for ages. A victim resisted and the two lads shot two people dead (one a 12 yr old boy) and paralyzed another. They were then detained at the local police HQ where the lynch mob obtained them. Not saying ...

I just watched the video and full marks to the guy who made it for an excellent and very well put-together presentation, in my opinion. I also think he's right, except that none of that is going to happen in the foreseeable future, (if ever,) because the whole world is ruled by money. Money causes g...

I would have thought that's illegal isn't it? Either under German law or EU law.

I guess Jeffrey Dahmer would have liked that place. :?

I guess that's why they have to wait for a calm day Dutchie. The platform looks relatively stable for something that's afloat to me actually - it has those stabilisers sticking out from the sides. Btw, the test launch is only going up 30km, so that one doesn't count as a 'space' launch. I'm not sure...

Sorry I got it wrong. They won't be launching from the submarine but from the floating platform the rocket is sitting on, which will be towed out to sea by the sub.

The test launch has been delayed (was due today) because of high winds I hear.

According to the article in Universe Today I posted in the op, today (Aug 30th) is the date for the test launch at 1300 GMT. However, on the Copenhagen Suborbitals website homepage here, the following schedule is given, as I write: Launch window: Aug 30 - Sep 17, 2010 Possible date, Launch platform ...

Hmmm ... I might have thought this release had something to do with Wikileaks founder Julian Assange suddenly having to face rape charges in Sweden (news from last week I think.) However, as of a few hours ago, those charges were dropped. http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5gHMzDz_lVt...
